I feel like I should tip them, but my best friend who worked at one in high school says it isn't necessary, but really nice. My hubby is angry at Sonic because he would LIKE to tip them, but often only has a debit card. There is no place on the credit slip to add a tip. So, in his mind, they are discouraging rewarding good service. It's a major quandry in our household.
I don't. I think it's fine to tip at Sonic, but not necessary. I believe tips should be reserved for people who do more than just bring your food out. I worked fast food for 4 years, my company did not allow us to take tips. I also worked as a waitress. I could completely understand if the car hop came back, refilled drinks, removed trash from your car, took multiple trips for ketchup, napkins, salt, etc, but taking 10 seconds to walk out to your car? I just don't see the point of tipping for that. But like I said, tips are always appreciated, so if you can afford it, go for it :)
why is car-hop tipping fine, encouraged even, when we raise so much fuss about cow tipping?
ReplyDeletevery often i simply don't understand...
I'll give them a tip. But just the tip.

ReplyDeleteI tip, unless they give me lip. Which is why Ive never left a tip at Gates. Be damned if Im gonna tip someone for a bad attitude.
ReplyDeleteI don't go to Sonic because of the way they serve. I've never been to a drive in, and I don't want to eat in my car. It just seems weird to me.
