In The Gardens of Mordor

So, my aversion to all of Johnson County is no secret right? I may have made passing mention of it once or twice? Yeah, that's what I thought.

But when an intelligent, witty, attractive, blonde haired, blue eyed, 41 year old British geologist whose ancestor was a 17th century Irish pirate and who shares your love of photography says that's where she wants to go, whattaya gonna do? You gotta go, am I right?

So that's how I found myself at the misleadingly named Overland Park Arboretum (misleading because it's actually in Bucyrus, KS. Which is so far south there is a South Bucyrus, OK right across the fucking border.)

And that's where I took these photos.

That's a Cheerio in his mouth.

No Cheerio for you!

  2. Dude it is in Johnson county not Miami county. Bucyrus, KS is in Miami county you was in south OP or Stilwell as the locals call it. Trust me I am a few miles to the west of it.

  4. kcmeesha - It needed to be fumigated before I got there. Place reeks of ignorance, intolerance and priveledge. Stinks.

Super Dave - Google Maps called it Bucyrus. Who am I to argue with our Google Overlords?

    And thanks.

  5. Do I sense a smile on the face of XO after his weekend venture? Somehow I think there may be a picture or two that he took that he's not sharing with us. ;-)

  6. You feed only some of the denizens of Tartaros - the Terrapins in particular?
No wonder the place reeks of ignorance, intolerance and privilege.

  7. Oh and I took the liberty of transposing your Tolkien reference to one of a more Classical nature. As you know, I abhor Pop-Culture attributions to an even greater degree than Snooki adores anonymity.

  9. I'm waiting for the inevitable dissolution, heartbreak and recrimination; my estimate is around Father's Day, if not a tad before.

  10. You're such a romantic Nick.
    Query?
When the inevitable D H and R come to fruition, will your waiting have been in vain? Or will time tell?

  11. Damn. Great shots. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy the arboretum. And you shouldn't feed the turtles Cheerios. Especially when there's no milk.
