BLOG MEAT!

Just got back from the latest blogger meet up at Charley Hooper's. Had to post something about it because when Faith walked in tonight she came right over, gave me a surgically placed, 200 mph (she's been working with a personal trainer), Chuck Norris roundhouse kick to the face and yelled "POST SOMETHING NEW, BITCH!"

So I am.

I won't even begin to try and remember who all was there. Plus I know my good friend Spyder (who keeps a tally of who attended, their URLs, their nom de blogs, etc.) will have a full and complete account on her blog.

One of the highlights from tonight's get together was having the opportunity to sit close enough to emaw for us to have an actual conversation instead of just waving at each other from across the sea of cacaphony characteristic of these events.

I also got to shake the hand of The Best Political Blogger in Kansas City. I'd met him and shaked his hand before, but that was back when he was a nobody. Now he has more clout than TKC (who was a no show, fo sho).

One low point for me was finding out that Lee Ingalls is picking up and moving on. Never more will his dulcet tones grace the KCUR airways. But he says he will continue to update his blog. After all, they do have jazz and the Internets (it's a series of tubes) where he is going. Thanks for turning me on to Poncho Sanchez, Lee. Good luck in your future endeavors and please stay in touch.

Talking with Lee led to discussions about KCUR which led to Walt Bodine which led to comparisons to Larry Moore.

We are starting a Death Pool. Who will kick the bucket first? Personally, I think Larry Moore died back in the early nineties, but KMBC called in the Disney Animatronics crew to reanimate him. With proper preventative maintenance he could be broadcasting for decades. However, a simple rearrangement of the studio furniture could result in Walt's untimely demise. Pick a date. Place a bet.

I was also disappointed because I had to leave early and missed my friend KC Sponge. She is SUCH a HOTTIE!! LOL! Luv the Sponge!

The other cool thing about tonight was that I had my very first fan encounter.

It was towards the end of the evening (for me). I was just coming back from the pisser headed for our reserved blogger nook when a guy ran up and said "You're XO, right? Hip Suburban White Guy?"

A bit stunned I replied "Yeah".

He extended his hand and said "I knew you guys were going to be here and I recognized you as you went by. I just wanted to say 'Hi' and tell you how much I enjoy your blog. Just doing the whole fanboy thing."

I think I said something like "Wow! Thanks!" as I shook his hand in amazement.

I didn't catch his name, but Fanboy, if you are reading this, I just want to let you know that I don't normally have sweaty palms. I just sort of forgot to wash my hands.

SORRY! My bad!

Try to think of it as a souvenir.

All in all, it was another great night!

Y'all need to come up with a short-notice baby-sitter service so I can attend these things.

I'm glad everyone had a good time. Make sure to read Janet's new blog.

Dude, I paid for you shot of Bourbon. I'll let you decide how to pay me back! LOL

Sponge hadn't shown up yet by the time we decided to leave.

Ah, there's nothing like a little Larry Moore hatin' in the morning. My theory is that Larry Moore only exits as a Max Headroom-esqe virtual geezur.

Thank Ghod for the antiseptic qualities of Guiness then. You were the only one I recognized, but I read several of the local blogs. And probably several of the writers were there.

I was there for the beer and the Yankee schelacking.

It was good to meet you though.

Fanboy.

Well, my dulcet tones are looking forward to sleeping past 3:30 AM for awhile. I'll be keeping an eye on you, too, XO.

Walt Bodine lives!

Thank you. I promise to keep my feet to myself at the next meet. I'll be a married woman by then, and can therefor stop seeing the personal trainer and get back to doing what I do best: being fat and weak.

That's what we're supposed to do when we get married, right? I'm so excited!

And thank you keith...I've been waiting for a link to Janet's new blog. I'm gonna go add ehr to my roll right now!

Spyder - Thanks! I totally spaced that off. I hope you tipped the waitress well. I don't want to get a bad reputation or anything.

Jeff - Thanks. That made my night.

Would have been better if you were a hot blonde (chick) with a bi girlfriend who wanted to demonstrate how much they love my "blog" by tag teaming me in a 5 star hotel until my heart gave out and I died a happy man.

But hey, a handshake and a kind word from a stranger is nice too. That's more than I got from any of my wives.

Mwahahahahaha! (sp)

The groom also reaps certain benefits. He gets to stop listening to you and "allowing" you to touch the remote.

I mean, as long as you give him permission to do that stuff.

"I forgot to wash my hands". Nice. Thats the rockstar persona, baby. I see hot blond bi girls lining up for the chance to be fondled by your unwashed hands! Man i wish i lived closer. These meet ups sound like a blast!

I know - I know - I know . . . missed you at the last two because you go home too early. Next meetup better not be on a Thursday! AND I have to miss the party . . . in Vegas that weekend. Goodness - we should have an XO SPONGE - sponsored meet up. I'll do all the decorating - you invite all your fans. That would rock!!
