The New/Old Star Trek
There's a new Star Trek movie comin' atcha. This one is from J.J. Abrams and it completely recasts The Original Show characters with young hot actors and is a chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members during their time at Starfleet Academy.
Ya gotchyer Zoe Saldana as Uhura.
Ya gotchyer Anton Yelchin as Pavel Andreievich Chekov.
Ya gotchyer John Cho as Hikaru Sulu.
Ya gotchyer Simon Pegg as Montgomery Scott.
Ya gotchyer Karl Urban as Leonard McCoy.
Ya gotchyer Zachary Quinto as Spock (I can totally see those eyebrows doing the "Fascinating" thing).
And, (overly dramatic and totally useless [much like william shatner] drum roll) ya gotchyer Chris Pine as James Tiberius Kirk.
Some will see this as BLASPHEMY of the Highest Order.
I actually think it may work really well.
It will either reboot the franchise from the very beginning, paving the way for another potential four decades of sequals and spinoffs...or...it will drive a wooden stake and fire a silver bullet into the heart of the franchise and finally kill it off forever.
Either way, it will be interseting to watch.

The new Uhura is sooooo hot. I have an emotional tie to the original, but ZoƩ? Hmmmmm.
If it is cast and written well, WOW.
I wanna see Russel Crowe as James Tiberius Kirk (wearing a spandex shirt WITHOUT having to suck-in his gut). I mean really, Shatner was the 70's version of Hasselhof in the 90's.
That's my top choice - guaranteed box office hit with Crowe. (Iknow it's a fantasy.)
I bet the hubby will be watching. He was just complaining/whining about how little Battlestar Galactica series is left.
I hope they retain that certain corn and cheese ST had :)
Do you enjoy the new Doctor Who?
I agree with Mainstream. Zoe Saldana is a good looking woman.
hubba hubba! I think I need to set the TIVO!
I'll take me a John Cho, Karl Urban and a Zachary Quinto, please!
Didn't they try this sort of thing with the short-lived "Enterprise"- taking us all back to a beginning of sorts?
I'll probably watch it of course- on DVD- later.
Even bad Star Trek is better than none atoll. g

I hope it does work. JJ Abrams just might be able to do this.
that oughta be a great show
Harold as Sulu?! Hmmm...he's come a long way from White Castle.
