I'm just loving this!

Conservatives are fit to be tied because John McCain, the most moderate, centrist member of the Republican party, a man who doesn't really give a flying fuck what the religious, right wing Christofascists think, is their ONLY CHOICE in the 2008 election!

McCain's biggest crimes? He's moderate. He's reasonable. He isn't a rabid, foaming at the mouth, screaming idealogue. He understands that to govern effectively, you have to find common ground and be willing to compromise.

Republicans HATE that shit! Wah, wah, wah!

James Dobson and the conservative "core" of the party are sitting in the corner sulking and pouting because no one is sucking up to them anymore. They have lost their power over the Republican party. No one gives two shits about them.

They brought this shit on themselves. It was their influence, their power that got us in the clusterfuck we are in today. And people are sick of them.

People are finally waking up, taking the blinders off and saying "Holy fuck! What the Hell is going on? We have to do something about this."

2008 is shaping up to be a very, very good year.

I totally agree! When the election comes down to a old white guy who is moderate, and a young black whippersnapper....I'm gonna bet that the right wing nuts come out of the wood work to keep that "**INSERT RACIAL SLUR HERE**" outta the office! which is why I'm voting for Ron Paul!....or Ralph Cramden...wait Cramden? Wasn't he a Honeymooner?, Is that who's running? That doesn't sound right I'm going to do some googling.

I thought that if Hillary was nominated, I could handle that and would consider voting for her but that whippersnapper is gonna force me to vote for the John the Baptist.

I have to agree. Obama may be able to get the nomination from his party, but I don't know if America will vote for him.

As for the Republicans, ole JM would be a dang site more palatable than the crap we have been fed the last 8 years.

Don't count Obama out of the white vote. He has plenty of experience getting the folks of Southern Illinois on his side.

And on McCain, his voting on social issues is about as far to the right as you can get. Dobson only hates him because he cheated on his first wife. Dobson has a tough time with the whole forgiveness thing, I guess... The big money on the right is scarde that the gravy train will end for them, because, as XO says, McCain is not batshit crazy like the rest of the GOP.

nuke and travel - I honestly think more independent Americans will vote for Obama than would vote to put another Clinton back in office.

frankly, i don't think either barack or hillary will stand up against mccain, much as it saddens me to say it.

mccain will roll out an effective neo-conservative vote this fall by briging up the 'excesses' of the clinton wh if the nominee is hillary: there are many, many gop'rs who still loathe big bill and will jump aboard mccain's ship if it means keeping the clinton's out of office;

mccain will again bring out the neo-conservatives, as well as the moderates of both parites, by finessing his '100 years' stance in iraq if the nominee is barack: there are still an ungodly number of idiotic americans who yet believe the illegal invasion and continued illegal occupation of iraq was not only justified, but is still necessary.

when asked why, most will give vague answers concerning democratic nation building, as though one were in their living room experimenting with leggos. but if you press hard enough, you find 2 things; 1) they bought, hook line and sinker, the lies the current administration sold them to 'go to war' and now are looking to salvage their conscious by buying into the premise that mccain -as a one-time prisoner of war- will know how to 'manage' the 'war' in such a way that
'everyone wins, including the iraqis'.

do not discount that notion; it runs strong in people who will never admit that they were taken in. if that were not true, no carnival in america would ever exist, lotterys would fail and most people would be virgins to this day...and both ronnie raygun and shrub would NEVER EVER have achieved second terms.

it's not that people are stupid per se (okay, en masse, maybe a little...), it's more that they want to feel good about themselves and their country.

which, all things considered, would normally seem to make barack the horse in this race, correct? he speaks as though he were channeling many of jfk's ideas and he makes people feel good about themselves.

but he's relatively untried (like shrub was) and -unfortuantely for him- his daddy isn't either ex-cia director and ex-president and famial friends with the elite rich and powerful around the world (like shrub;'s was): no one is going to pull strings for him in this election.

and, trust me - strings will be pulled, probably in ohio and florida, at least. i will give 8 for 5 if there are not major voting irregularities in at least those 2 states this fall.

if you think i'm being overly cynical, you fell asleep before the 2000 elections and just awoken; the gop will do whatever they can to disenfranchise the minority vote wherever they can.

which, though i hate to bring it up, leads us right to the fact that barack is a black man.

yes, i DID vote for him and WILL vote for him if he's nominee, but i do not believe it will be enough.

yes, i know he pulled amazing numbers in the primaries. but that's not the general election, folks: the gop'rs were content to stay home because they KNEW mccain had it wrapped up early on.

they will not be so cnfident in the fall and will, frankly, run anround and tell each other that everyone has to get out and vote lest that colored boy besmirch the wh.

clip out this comment and store it some place safe. on the ocasion that barack is elected into the wh, bring it back out and shove it in my face. i will smile back and say, 'yes, indeed, i'm a horses ass and i din't know what i was talking about. i totally underestimated the revolution happening in my country. can i buy you a beer?'

keep it safe.

but if i'm right, if mccain wins, if mccain wins and there are irregularities with the vote, take this comment out and read it again.

and then ask yourself what it is that you ought to be doing and when should you start?

i don't know how many of you have been paying attention, but most just lately there have been serious 'impingments' on our rights as guaranteed by the constitution and the bill of rights. in addition, most federl legal offices are fixed - just today the AG of the US refused to forward supenas for shrubs aides, declaring ipso facto 'that no crime had been committed'.

i Do see barack reversing that trend. i do NOT see mccain doing so.

i see mccain as a 3rd shrub administration with a less insane front.

and don't even get me started on who he might choose as his VP, Blunt or that screaming asshole govenor from mn...

make sure you are taking people to the polls on election day. as many as your car will fit and as the day allows.

doc - "mccain will roll out an effective neo-conservative vote this fall by briging up the 'excesses' of the clinton wh if the nominee is hillary: there are many, many gop'rs who still loathe big bill and will jump aboard mccain's ship if it means keeping the clinton's out of office;"

Even Ann Coulter said she'd sooner vote for Hillary than McCain.

Conservatives view McCain as a traitor for not falling in to the Nazi goose-step with the rest of them.

Do I seriously think they would vote for Hillary? Hell no. But they would either throw a wasted protest vote at Huckabee or they would just stay away and not vote at all in the mistaken belief that anyone misses them or cares.

Either way they guarante a victory for the Democratic nominee.

I am as supremely confident as I can possibly be that Hillary will not be the Democratic nominee, the Republican party is in complete disarray and meltdown, independant swing voters are dissillusioned with their own party, and that a black man named Barack Hussein Obama will win a landslide victory in 2008 with the help of Reagan Democrats who are sick and tired of the lies and bullshit they have been feeding on for the past 2 decades.

The tide has turned. The right wing, conservative, Christofasctist, neocon revolution is over.

The Contract With America has been revoked. It is null and void.

The Dark Ages of Gingrich, Kristol, Bush, Cheney, Scalia, Dobson, Rumsfeld, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Rice...they are all sharing the grave with William F. Buckley.

It's dead. It's over.

A new age is about to begin. A spirit that was lost in 1963 is about to spark to life again.

It's a wonderful time to be alive and to be an American.

I trust Republicans as far as I can comfortably spit a rat. From the staged riots at the "chad" vote recount in Florida 2000 to the latest news item from the 2008 campaign trail -

DALLAS, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- The Secret Service told Dallas police to stop screening for weapons while people were still arriving at a campaign rally for Barack Obama, a report said.

Police stopped checking people for weapons at the front gates of Reunion Arena more than an hour before the Democratic presidential hopeful appeared on stage Wednesday, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported.

Police said the order to stop using metal detectors and checking purses and laptop bags constituted a security lapse, the newspaper reported.

Dallas Deputy Police Chief T.W. Lawrence -- who heads the department's homeland security and special operations divisions -- told the Star-Telegram the order had been intended to speed up seating of the more than 17,000 people who came to hear the candidate speak.

Lawrence said he was concerned about the large number of people being let in without being screened, but that the crowd seemed "friendly," the newspaper said.

Several Dallas police officers -- speaking on condition of anonymity because the order came from federal officers -- told the newspaper it was worrying to see so many people get it without even a cursory inspection.

The Star-Telegram said the Secret Service did not return a call seeking comment.

All these asshats care about is winning. No cost is too great, nothing is more important. You can't get near a Republican rally with an anti-Bush T-shirt or a protest sign, but you could carry an Glock into an Obama rally. It's starting to smell like Soylent Green.

McCain is as corrupt as any of them.

Personally, I like Obama. I will vote for him before I'd vote for George Bush's third term.

Which is exactly what McCain represents.
