Full Version: Hitchens and Boteach Debate on God

Unless you have an open mind (a lot of time), a connection that supports high bandwidth, and streaming video.

It's a really good debate and I really want to watch it all!

But I got sleepy watching it and had to go to bed.

mangoddamn! That's like 2 fucking hours long. I'm going to have to get back to you.

If a zombie or Linda Blair jump out at me at the 1.25 hour mark I'm going to be righteously pissed your way.

I've seen Hitchens debate the existence of God before on C-span with Dinesh D'Souza. It was very good. Hitchens met his match with this guy. If you ever get a chance to see the two of them debate, do it. I like Hitchens...he's brilliant and entertaining. So is D'Souza.

And, by the way, why aren't we blogging about the good Pastor Jeramiah Wright?

stink - Ha! That would have been great! I might have to edit that video.

travel - "Hitchens met his match with this guy." You only say that because I admitted I fell asleep and didn't watch the whole thing, so I can't argue with you about who got the better of who. That's just mean.

As far as the Jeremiah Wright fiasco, I think it shows incredible desperation on the part of Republicans to try and put the words of a flamboyant black minister into Obama's mouth. I have attended many black church services in my day and they all tend to be a bit over the top and dramatic.

Besides, most people(black or white) who attend church don't listen to the sermon or agree with what's being preached anyway. They are there for appearances and because they're afraid they'll go to hell if they don't.

If you are going to pin Rev. Wright's words on Barack Obama's jacket, you'd better pin Pastor John Hagee's words on John McCain's coat. Hagee has repeatedly referred to the catholic church as "The Great Whore", the "apostate church" and "the Anti-Christ".

Obama strongly repudiated the words of Rev. Wright. John McCain actively courted John Hagee's endorsement and has not repudiated his Pastor Hagee's hate speech.

There. Happy? LOL!
