Stabbing in Lee's Summit

Can't find any on-line links to the story, but KSHB reported this morning on a stabbing that occurred overnight in Lee's Summit.

Apparently there was a party, a fight broke out in the driveway, and some guy stabbed another guy. Within HOURS, they had the assailant in custody.

With all of the unsolved mudrers and assaults that take place in other parts of the metro, how on earth were police able to apprehend this particular perp so quickly?

Simple really.

A whole bunch of people saw what happened and who was involved. They all TOLD THE POLICE what happened, identified the guilty party and gave police his address. He is currently behind bars.

You see, out here in The Burbs, stabbing somebody is generally regarded as unacceptable, anti-social behavior and we don't have any qualms or hesitation about ratting someone out to the police and sending their ass to jail.

We are a bunch of snitching muthafuckers. That's just how we roll.

I hear ya YO! I'm a full blown snitcher! As a matter of fdact I snitch all the time. Like the other day when this person cut me off in traffic I called the Po-Po and told them he had a gun....at least it looked like a gun to me, it may have been a banana...I only saw it for a second, but you can't be too careful these days.

I'd feel pretty constrained out there in the 'burbs, where submerging a blade in someone's abdomen is considered indecorous. I live downtown, and man, I can't tell you how many knives I've lost inside of other people. The knife man sure loves seeing me come walking up to the knife store -- I must spend half my disposable income on cutlery.

Do you remember the stabbing that took place in 1990-1991 in ...New York? Some details are blurry, but this I do remember:

A woman was walking by a big apartment building, some guy attacked her and stabbed her a number of times while she screamed and pleaded for help. He eventually killed her and got away while people watched from their windows. Not one of them called 911. Not one.

It was my senior year in highschool, so it made an impression.

Anyway- since then I've never been one to stand by and watch. I'll call. Your damn tootin' I'll call. Fortunately I've only had to call about 4 times. Twice for observing/listening to domestic violence. The second time my kids even heard it. that sucked.

When my brother visited a few months ago, he "borrowed" my car without asking. I called the OPPD and had his car-stealing ass hauled in on grand theft auto.

The other cool thing about burb living is that when you call the police they actually come. We used to have a joke when I lived on the north side, "If you give us a hard time, we are going to call the police and in three to four hours you will be very sorry". (except it wasnt really a joke)

Pretty interesting all these comments. People make a lot of excuses for their shitty lives and enabling of criminals.

I hope the people in the eastern part of the metro core DON'T call the cops. You reap what you sow. You want to live in shit, start shitting in the bed. And that's exactly what happens with the "I ain't be snitching" attitude.

I don't feel sorry for anyone who gets murdered when the neighborhood does nothing. It could be their children next. Nobody seems to give a damn. Trash in the streets, junk cars all about, $10,000 on rims but I still can't afford front steps. Never changes.

Wrong priorities.

First of all he don't live in the ghetto, or the nigga valley like it seems that most of you think. Have any of you stopped to think what the hell did dude do to him? Have you asked that question? I doubt it. Have any of you thought that maybe just maybe the caucasioan involved is somewhat to blame cause "Hypothetically" let's say the young man, Whom I wish gets well and learns from what ever went down, may have said or did someething to set him off. And if so...I say this...If you talk shit be prepared to get ya blocked knocked off! But I will say this I aint mad at nobody for snitchin' cause when it comes down to it he stabbed dude.
And to the comment on the whole thing about the police actually coming when something goes on in surburbia, how shitty is that to know that if WE do call they trick asses aint gone come and try to find out what happened. What the fuck am I gone snitch for if you aint gone do yo job then why tell you any damn thing... Get my point. And just so you know I have lived in the ghetto and Suburbia areas. And each of the areas had there own set of problems...

"Tim" - "he don't live in the ghetto, or the nigga valley"

I never suggested that he did. In fact, I believe the perpetrator was arrested at his home in Raytown.

I was merely using a suburban case that was solved in a matter of hours to contrast complaints about "ghetto" crimes that go unsolved for years.

I was suggesting that neighborhoods with residents that work WITH the police have a higher crime resoloution rate than neighborhoods that view the police as a bigger enemy than the criminals that commit the crimes.

"Have any of you thought that maybe just maybe the caucasioan involved is somewhat to blame cause "Hypothetically" let's say the young man, Whom I wish gets well and learns from what ever went down, may have said or did someething to set him off."

First of all, I don't know that the victim was caucasian. Nor do I know that the perp was anything other than caucasian.

That was never the point.

Second of all, are you suggesting that saying something to someone or doing something to someone at a party is a justification for a life-threatening multiple stabbing?

If so, I would have to disagree.

"And if so...I say this...If you talk shit be prepared to get ya blocked knocked off!"

How "hood" and childish. My reply would be...

"If ya knock somebody's block off at a party (for whatever reason), prepare to go to jail and get your shit pushed in by somebody a whole lot bigger and badder than your pussy-ass."

And finally, "how shitty is that to know that if WE do call they trick asses aint gone come and try to find out what happened."

Why on earth would the police rush to a crime scene knowing that when they get there all of the witnesses are going to scatter and run and refuse to talk to them?

What difference would it make if they got there in two minutes or sixty minutes?

"What the fuck am I gone snitch for if you aint gone do yo job then why tell you any damn thing... Get my point."

The police can't do their job if you don't snitch.

What part of that don't you understand?
