One World

Was listening to pundits complaining about how folks in other states might have to bail out California.

Have heard others complain about higher courts bouncing our laws up against those of other nations.

Let me make this perfectly clear.

There is only one path to the survival of humans on his planet. At some point, we have to have a One World Government that can enforce laws and policies that benefit everyone, everywhere, while controlling and allocating worldwide resources equally for the benefit of all.

As long as we have a "Fuck you, I got mine, sucks to be you" culture, we will always have people who hate us and want to kill us! Duh!

And I've got news for you. If we continue down the path we are on, we will be the folks at he bottom of the ladder hating on India and China.

No one truly owns, anything. Ownership is a financial fabrication that doesn't actually exist in the real world.

This planet is a vast natural resource that can support every inhabitant at sustainable, expandable levels for many years to come. But only if we work as one people who value everyone else as much as we value ourselves.

Once we start exploiting off-planet energy and natural resources (solar power and asteroids), our survival as a species is limitless.

But only if we give up the idea that "these are our borders, these are our laws, be like us or go fuck yourselves".

We are all humans. We all live on one planet. We have to find a way that we can all have access to food, shelter, clean water, health care, security, freedom, opportunity, justice and equality.

I am seriously incapable of understanding how anyone cannot understand the truth in this.

But I want to know your thoughts. Tell me why I'm wrong.

There's a lot of hatred in the world. A lot of envy. Humans ain't perfect.

I agree with you, by the way.

However, it's kind of like preaching under-18 abstinence - as a parent a nice-to-have concept that hasn't happened in over 8,000 years of human history, and ain't likely to happen over the next 8,000.

But a worthy goal.

(at least the health care for all etc. stuff is)

The "be like us or go fuck yourself" sentiment isn't what the USA is supposed to be about in the first place. It is supposed to be: This is our country, these are our laws, you leave us alone, and we'll leave you alone".

What you are talking about is basically communism on a global scale. One government to enforce laws and policies to benefit everyone, while having control of all worldwide resources. Yeah, communism.

But if you want a single reason why it would NEVER work (never minding the communist angle). Man plus Religion.

BTW, globalization has happened before in history, or it's come close to happening. The Roman Empire is just one example. It encompassed most of the "known world" at the time. Funny... it didn't last, and wars and poor oppressed people were still around.

But, hey... if you really want to make life better for every one in the world, take all the money you don't want or need to live on, and send it to Washington D.C., Obama will give it GM or Citibank, and they'll know how to disperse it for the greatest benefit of all of us. But save a little extra for yourself... the price of a bottle of liquor is about to rise by .40 a bottle. Gotta love federal sin taxes.

Am I living in a different America? Because neither of those statements reflect my vision of our country. I grew up believing that the US is a place founded on inclusion of outsiders (how many Native Americans do YOU see in America?) and making dreams a reality. There's a reason why we have a cultural concept of an "American Dream".

America is supposed to be a place where people are left alone enough to make life better for themselves and supported enough by the government not to be fucked over by others. I don't think this is how we are by any stretch of the imagination. But I do believe this is how we could and should be.

America was created because rights were being taken away from the people who deserved them by other people far away who had no idea or interest in what their lives were like; and now we're the country that takes rights away from its people and others around the globe. Total BS if you ask me.

I think this post goes to show that you might need a little vacation time, or something. I can't remember where I heard that "one world, one government" malarky recently, but the fact that I've heard it twice now in as few weeks kinda skeeves me out.

I mean, we aren't living in an effing movie here...this is real life. Why are impossible concepts like this even taking up more than 2 seconds to pass through anyone's brain, much less attempting to be discussed in any given forum?

This is like everyone accepting everyone else's beliefs and ideas. Never gonna happen...

"Never say never" is one of my favorite little dumb quotes.

One World Order is a scary thought because of the implications it has... with money and security come the rules of what you should believe and how you should behave. I think that is what makes it truly impossible. Mutual respect is something that has to be achieved through force because most people let instinct overrule their brain.

I don't think we are moving in the direction of one government and globalization is actually going to take a totally different shape after this economic slow down. I like your ideas, however the scary and thing that might come to light is India and China... most people don't see that coming or are not even vaguely aware of how significant that will be in the coming 50 years...

Change is coming, change is not easy to handle, and people don't like change... even when they themselves asked for it.

Of course, one world government will make it easier for one elitist dictatorial group to control the entire plant.

And even if you had one world government, war would go on.

It would just take the form of world wide civil war when the inevitable disgreements arose.

One world government has been the dream of dictators like Alexander, Napoleon and Hitler.

There are many who will never submit to that nightmare.

May, maybe my words weren't exactly clear... so I'll clarify a little.

When I refer to the you leave us alone and we'll leave you alone, I am referring to the US governments "interventionist" policies around the globe, like say... Iraq.

Until WWI, the US stayed out of wars that didn't directly involve US citizens or property. WWI and every war since, have been about US "interests" in foreign countries.

I believe you are correct, that the US is a country that tries to include outsiders... if they are seeking the "American Dream".

I love this part that you wrote
[America is supposed to be a place where people are left alone enough to make life better for themselves and supported enough by the government not to be fucked over by others.]

The SINGLE role of government is to protect US citizens rights as guaranteed in the Constitution. They sometimes do a good job at protecting our rights when another citizen infringes upon them... but lately they've done a TERRIBLE job protecting our rights from being trampled by the government or others in authority positions.

What you see as the one path to the survival of humans on this planet was actually predicted about 2000 years ago. But, the events leading up to this one world order ain't gonna be as utopian as you would think.

But, I agree it's going to happen; in fact, is happening as we speak.

Old Fart - "Until WWI, the US stayed out of wars that didn't directly involve US citizens or property."

That is simply not true.

The Mexican-American War was a blatant land grab from Mexico. Pure and simple. That's why you hear Mexican-Americans saying "We didn't come to America. America came to us!"

The Spanish-American war was another land grab. We sent the U.S.S. Maine into Havana harbor, scuttled her, blamed it on Spanish mines as a pretense to declare war. End result? We own the Philipinnes!

I'm pretty sure I've explained this to you before, XO. But I'm happy to tell you again.

You're so far off on your "reasoning" though, that it's going to take more than just a comment. So follow this link and I'll tell you why you're wrong.

Yeah, convienent how they forget that Mexico wanted settlers in the 1820s and 30s to settle the underpopulated areas of northern Mexico. Problem is, they treated the "Texicans" (the name given them because most of the settlers wound up coming from America) like third class citizens. The Texans won their independence from Mexico, and Mexico contested the border (they wanted it further north than the Rio Grande). Texas was annexed by the US and when NEITHER government would give in, the Mex-Am war was on.

But you are sort of right on the Span-Am war. It was never proven the US scuttled the Maine, just as it was never proven Spain had anything to do with it. So I ammend my timeline start to 1898 instead of 1917.
