3rd Annual Liberty Landing International Aerodrome Pumpkin Drop

On old Highway 210 between Liberty and Orrick, just east of Highway 291 and just north of the Missouri River, is the Liberty Landing International Aerodrome.

It's official designation is Liberty Landing Airport.  It consists of a grass strip, a gravel strip, a wind sock and a few small hangers.  It's HQ for a group of aviation hobbyists.  More on that later.

I happened to be passing by on Saturday and noticed quite a bit of activity.  I pulled off the road and took some photos with my zoom lens.  It took me a while to figure out what they were doing.

Turns out they were dropping pumpkins from airplanes.  Why, you ask?  Because dropping pumpkins from an airplane and watching them explodeis FUN!  Check it out.
