More Blatant Bullshit!

"Hancock's father files suit
Restaurant, towing company, stalled car driver sued"

This is in reference to Josh Hancock, the St. Louis Cardinals pitcher who was killed in an auto accident on April 29, 2007.

I will attempt to take the high road by acknowledging that I have not had to deal with the death of a child. So I can't claim to know what that is like. It could, quite likely, lead to all sorts of irrational behaviours and make you vulnerable to the lowest, scum-sucking vermin (lawyers) on the planet.

However. These are the facts.

"ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The father of Josh Hancock filed suit Thursday, claiming a restaurant provided drinks to the St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher even though he was intoxicated prior to the crash that killed him.

The suit, filed in St. Louis Circuit Court by Dean Hancock of Tupelo, Miss., does not specify damages. Mike Shannon's Restaurant, owned by the longtime Cardinals broadcaster who starred on three World Series teams in the 1960s, is a defendant in the case along with Shannon's daughter, Patricia Shannon Van Matre, the restaurant manager.

Authorities said the 29-year pitcher had a blood content of nearly twice the legal limit for alcohol in his system when he crashed into the back of the tow truck. He was also speeding, using a cell phone and wasn't wearing a seat belt, Police Chief Joe Mokwa said after the accident. Marijuana also was found in the SUV."

Case fucking closed. No one was at fault except for Josh Hancock. Defendant pronounced guilty of driving like someone from Johnson County.

When I heard about this on the radio yesterday I was appalled . It is beyond reason to sue the tow truck driver and the distressed driver.

The only possible empathy that we can give the father is that he is grieving over the loss of his son and some a$$hole lawyer told him that he could file a case.

That's pretty bad. A rediculous lawsuit no doubt. But like Keith said, you can kind of understand where the dad's head is.

But you want to see a completely ricockulous lawsuit? Try this one on for size.

This is like DT's Mom suing everyone after he died: the car maker, the ambulance company, the hospital. Nevermind the fact that he was driving like a dumbass in crappy weather AND wasn't wearing his seatbelt. It was financially driven, and disgusting.

I hope the father isn't doing this for the same reasons. I also hope that this case gets tossed out.

YARR! No shit. Quote for this situation; comes from a movie called Pretty Persuasion.

White Girl: "What's the greatest thing about living in America?"

Iraqi Girl: "Sylvester Stallone?"

White Girl: "No. It's that you can sue anyone, for anything, at any time."

Purely shameful behavior on the dad's part. You see it time and time again in our country, blame someone else for what you do. Personal accountability is sadly lacking in our society. Always blame something or someone else.

I cannot imagine losing a child but its kind of like the death penalty. State sanctioning the stages of grief and associating feelings of anger is not benefitting anyone. Im against the death penalty completely but if a child of mine was killed by another person, I would have no qualms about killing that person myself. And facing the consequences....
